Port Jefferson Free Library - The Port Jefferson Free Library (N.Y.) uses melvil's smartPAC software to help them manage their public internet computers. Users log in with their library card number. The software checks the library's patron database (Innovative Interfaces) to make sure that the users are valid, then assigns them a time limit. Our barcode generator software enables librarians to generate temporary barcode numbers for guest users that work only for that day. The software assigns guest users a different time limit. The library can also get reports and statistics from the MySQL database that keeps track of all the user sessions.

Cold Spring Harbor Library - The Cold Spring Harbor Library (N.Y.) uses smartPAC to keep a count of user sessions for statistical and report purposes. The library does not require a user to authenticate against their patron database, but the software does force users to agree to the library's acceptable use policy before proceeding.
